When can we meet?
The earlier the better!
I can help at any stage of the process up to a week before the application date.
The ideal time to start thinking about your main college application essay is in the summer between 11th and 12th grade when you don’t have the demands of schoolwork.
If you plan to submit your applications by November 1, reach out before October to get started!
After October 20, I can help only with revisions to existing essays, not with brainstorming or generation of content.
I offer in-person tutoring in Arlington, Alexandria City, and Falls Church as well as tutoring via Zoom and phone.
Higher rates apply for students seeking in-person tutoring in Fairfax County, Washington DC, Prince George’s County, or Montgomery County.
My focus is on helping you feel comfortable and confident about your accomplishments and the way you are introducing yourself to prospective colleges.
My approach is to meet students where they are with compassion while helping them feel confident as writers.
What about SAT preparation?
I coach students on many of the writing and reading conventions they need for standardized tests and can work with them on practice tests as part of our regular collaboration. Test preparation is currently not an area of focus for me.
Email haneyjessicaclaire (at) gmail (dot) com to request rates or visit my general Tutoring page for more info.
With 8 years teaching experience and 14+ years experience as a writing tutor, my rates are competitive for tutors in the DC area for general writing tutoring.
My rates are lower than tutors who focus solely on college application essay coaching or those who also offer college admissions guidance or SAT/ACT preparation.
